Kuhefuss House is an historic home nestled in Cedarburg's busy downtown, managed by the Cedarburg Cultural Society. When visitors exit the home after their tours, they see the beautiful garden plots maintained by Ozaukee Master Gardeners in the backyard. That's where our Master Gardener volunteers volunteers tend a kitchen garden filled with plants that would have been used by cooks in the late 1800s. Tags for those herbs show the common and botanical names, and explain the culinary uses.
In other plots there are hydrangea, hosta, roses and hellebores. If our volunteers are present when visitors leave the home, they will answer horticulture questions and explain plant care. OMG has used the Kuhefuss House backyard for rose-pruning workshops in spring that are open to the public.
