Pioneer Village in Saukville is a collection of 24 restored buildings dating back to the 1840s. It is managed by the Ozaukee County Historical Society, which hosts events and tours during the summer months and into fall. It is a favorite field trip destination for local students, who can tour an early pioneer community and take a lesson in a one-room school house.
OMG master gardener volunteers have planted and maintained garden beds at Pioneer Village since 2004. At the site there are herb and perennial beds. We hope that the area's early settlers, who long ago tended farms and herb gardens, approve.
