The Garden beds at Ozaukee County's Tendick Park have been tended by OMG master gardener volunteers for more than 15 years. The beds surround a restored one-room log cabin that was moved to the park and currently overlooks a green space with gentle rolling hills and a woods.
Our volunteers plant and maintain demonstration gardens representing what people might have grown while living on a homestead in the 1800’s. There are three herb beds in front of the cabin which contain culinary herbs, medicinal plants, and plants used for dyes that the pioneers used in hand-spun fabrics. A vegetable garden is in the back of the cabin. The volunteers also maintain Rugosa roses and other perennials on two sides of the old cabin.
